About this event:
Note this is a REACH organized activity. No drop-offs, please. Parents are asked to stay on site and participate.
This activity is part of the One-Lesson-At-A-Time STEM club series. For those of us who can’t commit to weekly co-ops. These are a great place to jump into a REACH activity. Socializing and learning!
Vermi Compost Workshop
on Thursday, January 11 at 10am
Located at Christus Victor Lutheran Church,
400 Harbison Blvd, 29212
This project is part of our Green Steps Environmental Education Series. Students will Learn, Do and Teach others about the purpose and importance of composting. The vermi compost bin is a great way to learn how composting works and see the process up close.
One bin per family will be provided with the registration. If you wish to have each child make their own, you can bring the necessary supplies along with you to this workshop. Or you can go home and create a variation of the one we demonstrate. We can provide you with additional “starter worms” for your extra bins.
- Bring a newspaper, to cover your work area and to create bedding in your bin. One bin per family will be provided. If you wish to have each child have their own bin, please bring a small styrofoam ice cooler (you can get them from the vet for free–from their medical shipments).
- All other supplies will be provided, including your starter worms and first food scraps.
- Also bring a few dollars to donate toward REACH’s donation for the use of the building.
This project is free, but your RSVP is really important that you make every effort to come. It’s a hassle for us to work with no-shows and last minute cancellations. So, please show us how much you appreciate free activities, by following thru with your presence.
